Day 6 - Fri 20th March - Good Zombie

Compassion, sausage sandwiches, zombie chancellor and questioning societies behaviours..

I sit writing this on the Saturday morning tucking into a sausage sandwich, it’s been a while my old friend, so tell us Dave what did yesterday bring….the wine fridges were half empty which is a worry and also got frog marched in to watch the five o’clock update. There seemed to be footage of Boris shaking hands with lots of people which sounds a bit hypocritical and a lot risky.

Rishi seems to know the crack..

Surprisingly I found the briefing rather interesting. Of the three politicians presenting, Boris was surprisingly good and showed a lot of passion, the woman just came across as a primary school head teacher with a very dry vagina. The final one – hold on while his name gets a Google – Rishi Sunak came across really well and appears to be brainier than Kurt Cobain’s ceiling. On the downside he looks like a zombie version of Ali G, actually is that a downside as they are two of my favourite things?

The key takeaway for me was compassion and how we behave in a crisis, particularly towards the more vulnerable sections of society. The main headline was that pubs and gyms are now closing their sweaty doors and the government is helping businesses and protecting salaries by up to 80%, which is very good of them. It’s called furlough which is just a posh word for leave of absence. Another observation is they are all very southern and appear to be privately educated, there doesn’t seem to be much of a demographical representation. Although it could be argued that having one of the undead in the cabinet helps the diversity quota.

Facetimed my mum tonight who is in good spirits and appears to be getting the hang of the new tech, gut feel is we’ll be away from offices for at least the next three months. My garden plot will resemble the hanging gardens of Babylon in a few weeks but with a few more dandelions and dog turds.

Some people continue to be complete pricks and their good intentions appear to have disappeared over the horizon, this saddens me greatly surely as a society we can do a bit better than this? Bread has now overtaken toilet paper as the most valuable commodity in my castle…..Sii gentile sempre!
